Community Programs Against Sexual Assault (CPASA)

Roxbury Multi Service Center’s, CommuniCPASA ty Program Against Sexual Assault (CPASA) established in 1978 is a prevention and intervention program offering multi-cultural outreach, networking, education/training, crisis intervention and advocacy services implemented through a “peer to peer” model of programming. CPASA’s goal is to ensure that participants fully understand that all forms of abuse/violence have harmful effects on their emotional and physical health and wellness, and also help them realize that information and assistance is available within their own community.

The Community Program Against Sexual Assault (CPASA) program offers two unique services--prevention and intervention.

Ü Prevention services are implemented through its O.N.E. service delivery model which includes outreach activities, networking events and educational-training sessions. These services are designed to inform and educate the community about the crimes of sexual assault and domestic violence, thus, reducing the incidence of emotional, physical and sexual violence, perpetrated against its residents.  This model of services is built around creating and implementing age and gender appropriate outreach activities, networking events, informational displays, and educational workshops/groups.

ÜIntervention services are implemented by staff through the Community Survivors’ Assistance Group in the form of crisis intervention and advocacy services for those who suffer the trauma of this type of violence and require information, referrals, advocacy, crisis and supportive counseling.

Peer  To Peer  Programs:

Teens Networking Teens –T.N.T.

Teens Networking Teens (TNT) was born out of the CPASA Peer Education Program established in 1991.  T.N.T., staffed by female and male youth, plan and execute outreach activities, networking events and educational workshops/ discussion groups for teens in Boston.  Collectively, they explore, with the youth, popular trends, share urban teen lifestyles, and engage in discussions directed towards reducing the occurrence of dating and intimate partner violence, other sexual crimes, while increasing their knowledge of sexually transmitted infections/disease, HIV/AIDS. T.N.T. programming is designed to focus on identifying alternatives to their 3 M’s concept, which is (1) Misinformation about sexuality; (2) Miscommunication between adults and their peers, and  (3) Mixed messages from the media and society-at-large.
